Curse of an HR? Is it your position? Hmmmm... when I was holding a high position I would never allow my Hr to do it alone. Its me who talks and HR just goes through necessary details to make it lawful. Thats it. To even do that I suspect your GM is not going to last either. Lol. Its your responsibility as a GM to deal with it first. Head to head then send to HR office. At least that was how I was tought. 🤯🥳✨️

Curse of a HR indeed 😂 I have 10 years of restaurant management behind me, in quite big companies, so I absolutely agree with how you see things! And your process is right.
This situation is slightly different though - well, the overall structure of where I currently work is. Given it's a small business, a small group, where there has been no HR for 17 years until I got hired last year, and only recently Head Office is growing past being the owner and an ops manager, boundaries between roles are not clearly defined and until recently noone was experienced in managing employee relations 'by the book'. So the owner is trying to step away but still quite involved in ER when it's about managerial positions.
That scenario also looks familiar to me. Was a manager of entertainment centres with restaurants, casinos, clubs you name it. It had also those periods. Remember quite well. When our first hr handled thing in the beginning with owners and GM. Very I would say similar situation... Well hold on in there, be strong 💪you are one of those first pillars of their growth.
