Come on, stop being so dramatic. No one got “rugged”. A business decided to no longer offer their services in the USA. Everyone can withdrawal their funds if they want. There are many companies that don’t offer their apps in certain jurisdictions.
Have you run your own node? Opened and maintained your own channels? It’s not an easy, or free thing to do.
Cash app, strike, and a myriad of other “good” companies don’t offer their services in my jurisdiction. Does that make them bad actors? Of course not. Custodial solutions are necessary for lightning right now, for the majority of users, because of all the choke points in running your own node. It won’t be like this forever. If I lose the 10$ - 20$ I have in a custodial lightning wallet so be it. It’s the price of playing the game.
This is a nuanced issue with many different individual circumstances that dictates one’s choice to use or not use a custodial lightning wallet. It’s not a simplistic “run your own node!” situation.

I didnt say half the things you mentioned. Its the way WoS did this. Where is the warning? Just pull the app, on Thanksgiving day? They know its the biggest onboarding day of the year basically. If you dont have the app installed now, good luck getting it. I dont have these worries. Im in Canada and stilk use WoS. Its Americans I feel bad for. Its a rug pull in some sense of definition. We all define things slightly differently. Nothing dramatic about these realizations.
That’s the best point. It’s just a game. Zapathons etc. Disconnecting Bitcoin from nostr is most likely a good thing for nostr. I like Damus. Never thought much about Bitcoin and zaps. But WoS just made Damus look bad. Like Trump on Twitter.
WoS has nohing to do with nostr or bitcoin.
