I was listening to a podcast last night which interviewed a film maker who has made two films which broke records, pissed off the studio systems, and were entirely crowd funded. They started a group level where you pay a small amount per month to see early footage, and vote on the direction of what is being shot. Seems like something of this nature might be worth exploring.
