It'll be a never ending battle. With the data-only e-sim you should be able to get a phone number with jmp.chat for a small fee and do sms with cheogram. I'm working on setting this up, now. Check out the tutorials on the above phone website:

My problem is that they all want to send sms to my Israeli phone number which is the one associated with my cc’s… or other services
