Some believers might call this cynicism, but are we not called to constantly evaluate our motives and attitudes? The Church as well, no? Also a good reminder - the war may be over, but battles remain ⚔️🛡️
Bible sales up 41%. Christian apps up 79%. Worship streams up 50%. They’re calling it revival. I’m calling it consumption disguised as conversion.
In 2 Kings 17, Israel had more religious activity than ever. “They feared the Lord, yet served their own gods.” That’s what this is.
You bought a Bible? Are you reading it or decorating? Downloaded a Jesus app? Obeying or farming dopamine? Streaming worship? Surrendering or curating a vibe?
Nobody’s asking what the historical average for Bible sales was. A 41% increase could just mean more shopping, not repenting.
You know what else is up? Porn subscriptions. Divorce rates. Kids leaving at 18. Church attendance down 30%.
Real revival is Nineveh fasting and begging for mercy. It’s Acts with people selling possessions and burning their old lives publicly. This is just consumerism with a Christian filter.
The Pharisees had the highest Bible literacy in history. Jesus called them whitewashed tombs. You can have a Bible and an app and still be spiritually dead.
Real test: Are marriages being saved? Addictions shattered? If no, it’s not revival. It’s marketing.
What killed Israel? Religion without repentance. “These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.”
If this was real revival, porn sites would lose traffic and churches would be full of broken people weeping. Instead we’re celebrating app downloads.
I hope I’m wrong. But increased religious activity is not the same as increased holiness.
Challenge: You bought a Bible? Read it cover to cover. Then tell me if your life looks anything like what it commands.
