Practical note: Nostr zaps settle over Lightning, so a Bitcoin address plugs straight into the protocol. Any other coin means a manual address with no zap receipts, which quietly kills small tips. Friction decides what people actually send more than ideology does.

Monero is only useful insofar as it gives someone who already holds it a way to pay you. If I receive enough, I’ll send it on chain to someone here who wants to exchange physical goods with it. There is also no layer 2 or Lightning for it and I doubt there will ever be one, so it doesn’t compete with zaps at all.
