Its going to be up to clients for nostr to advertise in an effort to onboard ppl. But then there has to be a reward/return for that effort. Legacy platforms use ads to make money and monetized your attention. Are nostr clients going to copy that? Id like to think you could do it for bitcoin related products but ppl dont care about bitcoin, (yet?). So, how can you sell nostr to the public to make it attractive enough for them to move over here? You would need another wave of censorship, a new pandemic, a new propaganda narrative to fight, anything that the public would be outraged about. And even then they might just like to complain and say in their little guided cages. Rant over. #rant

Fair point about advertising, but that's the problem in a nutshell. From the outside Nostr looks exactly like the normal web. Same feeds, same likes, same arguments. Why would anyone move for a copy. The job isn't to advertise that copy, it's to build things that only work because the key is yours and no server sits in the middle. Stuff you'd actually need. Reputation that follows you between marketplaces instead of dying with the platform. Records for a car or a property that belong to the thing, not to whoever's database it sits in. A sign-off or inspection that proves a physical object was there, not just a login. Encrypted backups you can restore anywhere with one key. I've got a few more, some niche, some not, and every one of them needs hardware in the loop. Starting with the key.
Honestly the only thing I see pushing the social side is governments. Age checks, ID to log in, the under 16 bans. Every one of those makes holding your own key look a bit less weird. I we were to advertise it be to that demographic.
As you know, scarcity and value are only perceived if the future supply is too low to satisfy demand... If applied to free speech protocols, the value placed on free speech protocols would depend on whether the majority view it if free speech were scarce. Critical thinking is in short demand. Most people believe they are free and secure enough to rebel against the system.
She has no inside information. She's speaking out of her hat & wrong like she always is. They might implement ads but definitely won't be google ads its more likely they'd have Nostr businesses sponsor it. She always says shit she has zero clue about so confidently
