Maybe this is obvious to the tech people here, but it would be really useful if it were possible for a nostr client to be a meta app of sorts wherein you post something here — text, video, photo and input your login info to centralized social media platforms and it just goes to any of them you choose. So you’ve got this peer-to-peer meta protocol (nostr) but it also hits all the centralized protocols (and reads them). Pretty soon it’s just easier for people to use the interoperable meta protocol and push it through to all their centralized outlets. Then when a critical mass is using the interoperable meta-protocol, everyone realizes, why do we even need these middlemen, I can interact directly with everyone on the network now. Kind of like when buyers and sellers of real estate who save in bitcoin realize, “Why do we need the intermediate step of converting this into fiat and back to make a sale? I’ll just collect directly in bitcoin.”

That's what, in a way, Friendica or micro.blog with their interoperability and crossposting features already do. Still, though, miss an easy solution to go, like, publish on my blog -> automatically post to nostr -> post from nostr to ActivityPub, Tumblr, Diaspora, Bluesky, maybe Instagram. This would be a killer feature, but I'm unsure whether this will ever happen or whether nostr with all its ambitions and all its extensibility just will go down the same route XMPP went. There's a difference on my end in hopes vs expectations due to experiences with similar approaches (which so far all failed).🙁
