I tried to use a different OS and desktop environment and that went like total ass.
I shall tell you about it.
First Attemp:
I tried to use Debian 13 with Gnome desktop.
Debian was a total pain in the ass trying to understand the installer.
I totally lost my shit with Gnome when I couldn't figure out how to make a text file on a backup drive. Righ-click / new text file? FUCK NO!
Second Attemp:
Debian 13 with KDE desktop.
On first boot I immediately had an IBUS notification problem. Fuck my life!
Took care of that problem after an hour of searching and read, read, read some more.
I could tell this OS was going to be for testing out some questionable app installs.
Fuck off, I'm installing ROCm and PyTorch in this bitch even if I grenade it.
Mission accomplished, LOL!
Now I'm back on the OS and desktop of my choice with ROCm and PyTorch installed. Arch with KDE.
Only took a could days.

I like Linux mint xfce, it's lightweight
Never tried Mint or xfce. Myself, I always customized Windows back in the day to give it my own touch.
I like a highly customizable desktop that is functional. I couldn't say I could navigate xfce well enough to get it to run local LLM's.
I tried Gnome and it reminded me a lot of Apple iOS due to lack of customization out of the box and gave me "the you can't do that because you might break our shit" feeling.
