New 3 billion dollar data center being built in my state.
Construction will obviously create many jobs, but after it's up and running it will only employ 24 people.

Mind blowing indeed. What’s even harder to quantify atm is how many jobs are going to be lost to “automation” based on the applications that will be run out of that data centre.

Yeah, DCs are pretty low touch in reality. Though the interesting point is of those few humans, they are normally the source of failure. Look at the recent CME outage. There’s talk of a N+2 chillers, but almost without doubt someone will have switched the wrong switch 🫣
