A unique challenge in life is reconciling the journey upwards with the journey downwards. It's figuring out how to pursue excellence and self-evolution, while simultaneously accepting limitation and humiliation...how to metamorphose into our highest form while at the same time dissolve into egolessness. My faith is that the paradox may be resolved by an "integration of opposites", as Jung put it. A tree flowers toward the celestial heights, while its roots penetrate deeper into the heart of the earth—without any contradiction. Can I become like a tree? Both toward the light, and toward the darkness.
