I know someone who did it in stages, getting the pilgrimage stamps from the churches along the way. So, they went on 10 different 2-week trips, over years, to fill their pilgrim pass. To get the official stamp in Santiago de Compostela, you need to prove at least the last 100 km (by foot) or 200 km (by bicycle or horse), but it's cooler to get stamps from the whole path. Just need more stamps closer to the end, and you can't skip ahead with the train or whatnot, the last stages. I was talking to Hubby about doing something like that.
