But others can be janky. Wallet of Satoshi was great but now mine says “Region not supported”, ie the US.

I don't know what to tell you but, I'm in the US, with a US SIM card. I'm almost always using a VPN but the endpoint is usually in the US somewhere. Never had a problem.
