Why is thinking and debating in tradeoffs without personal attacks so hard? Ego and fear.
I support BIP110 because it makes logical sense to me as a path forward. It’s not perfect by any means. But defaulting to doing nothing is not an option here, because the barrier to run a node just becomes too big without change.
I also recognise I’m not able to be aware of the implications of every scenario so still open to change my mind.
There are risks in every direction, assessing it with clarity is what is needed.

People inflate these issues like they are the most important issues to solve, put a lot of their time and effort into it and that makes it personal.
You do not see this only in the bitcoin space but also in the scientific space. People become personally attached to their work and will defend it because nobody wants to see years of work "going to waste".
It is very unfortunate because even if the work proved to be in the wrong direction it still encouraged other people to get into it. Even if your approach turned out to be incorrect you still helped all of humanity (or a lot of them at least) by encouraging people to also do this research/experimentation.
Once somebody makes it personal you should just immediately turn away from them, ignore it and only keep giving rational arguments or you are worse than a politician.
Admitting incorrectness seems incompatible with human behaviour.

In a battle of ideas character assassination is a strategy that does reverberate with your base as the two sides dig in more and more.
By being temporary soft fork BIP110 allows its effectiveness to be analyzed and if there is room for improvements to be improved and then set permanently. Its clever and humble approach.
Forestalling kiddie porn on the Bitcoin blockchain is sorta urgent.
BIP 110 effectiveness is already analyzed and simulated with real Bitcoin transactions.
The results are amazing.
And the spammers agree. They are terrified.
They were scared even about the mempool filters.,
But the bad actor Jameson Lopp together with the compromised Core devs thought they control Bitcoin.
Bitcoin mempool and blockchain is for monetary transactions.
Spam currently takes more than 36% of the blockchain space and brings less than 1% of revenue for the miners.
It devalues Bitcoin, its a waste, it makes running a node harder and it hinders decentralization.
There are memcoins for spam and jpegs. Bitcoin is Freedom Money.

Well put, one cant know for sure if people are compromised, but the trail leads to shitcoinery imo where moral thought is scarce
And trail there is. (mimicking Yoda :) )
Its a complete rabbit hole.

It was fine before the op return let's go back to that less is better
