Gm folks. Modern all-in-one IRC clients are soooo cool: It’s a PWA with a built-in bouncer, push notifications, link and image previews, uploads, etc. Honestly, it’s bloody brilliant. I’m running my own instance here: I’ve got some spare capacity, so if you’d like to try out a modern IRC experience before committing, just DM me and I’ll create an account for you. It also works great for accessing the Nostr IRC chat by @npub10npj3gydmv40m70ehemmal6vsdyfl7tewgvz043g54p0x23y0s8qzztl5h. Why not connect with the Nostr community using proven, old-school cool tech? If you don’t need all the bells and whistles, you can also use Cloudfodder is hosting a Kiwi IRC instance there, with enough plugins to make it a pretty decent experience. #gm #IRC #growNostr #justTalkToEachOther image

I started using it regularly about a year ago. Adam Curry's No Agenda show has had irc setup for 18 years or something like that and some of the shows that branched off from it also have channels there. It's really cool for live shows or just hanging out.
Sounds cool. I'll have a look. I remember joining music communities and downloading "bootleg" recordings in specialised channels before Napster was even a thing. Also some bots in the 90's and early 2000's doing stuff that LLM enabled bots on Discord still struggle with today. IRC is really amazing.
