Montanus, a priest, and Maxima, his wife, were arrested during Diocletian's persecution for their unwavering Christian faith. Brought before the authorities, they refused to renounce Christ, even when faced with torture. Their steadfastness inspired many onlookers. The governor, enraged by their refusal to sacrifice to the pagan gods, ordered their execution. They were stoned to death for their belief.
