Currently bitchat has mass appeal as an idea; users that have never heard of Nostr and users who aren't from bitcointwitter. No other nostr client has achieved this so far.
Introduce something like this and you probably alienate so many people. No?

But the spam will alienate everyone anyway....
If bitchat had a working spam mitigation system (i.e. micropayments) from the get go it has a much larger chance of success, IMO.
