I got to pet a squirrel once....
I didn't realize how dangerous they are until I got older and watched videos. Stay away from wild animals even for petting them.
Dogs and cats are good enough but be cautious around cats because they are basically still wild animals.
I am trying to catch a hawk that uses my porch to rest...

I hat three snakes too.
For 3 years I was asking my parents to have them. When I had them, it was around two years, until I was too scared, that they would bite me. So we sold them 😂
