I built a kind of self healing framework as the first thing I built and never looked back. Everything I build has watchdogs that raise tasks if systems fail or drift...
At the moment the technology seems to be advancing exponentially so that by the time you have to maintain it, it’s easier to just rebuild it from scratch with a smarter ai!
I don't think people maintain things anymore, they seem to just pile new stuff on top of it and if some bug or other remains unchanged for months, well then so be it according to lots of companies, even big ones.
Only if you go back to manually maintaining. But why do that?
