I’ve definitely gotten some pushback for my take on BIP-444.
But I still haven’t gotten any answers to two basic questions:
1. Who will monitor the blockchain?
2. Who decides when action is needed?

This would definitely NOT used by a government to control people
Your alby might be down? Was trying to zap your video from Friday.
Bitcoin core is not an image viewer or gallery app. In all my time using that software I never once was shown an NFT/image of a monkey, just a new block height every 10 mins or so, and a balance of UTXO's. It's so silly. Wonder if we should ban SMTP protocols because it supports file attachments. What about DNS, BGP. Heck, some terrorists wear shoes, any shoe wearers should clearly be arrested for that, oh and vegans drink water too, but that could be some living things home. No water for vegans! No majority fork for Luke.
What about CMOS and DLSR technology, see what canon or Nikon think of that..
I was considering running a knots node adjacent to core 28 for Luke, but I don't think I will now. I've got better things to do with my compute and cycles.
Sit back and enjoy the popcorn, tick tock, next block.
I appreciated your info on BIP444, and I agree, it's just hype vapour. Cheers for TWiB, and LUG. Super valuable discussions. 🔥
Yea, "Could not fetch invoice from https://getalby.com/lnurlp/chrislas/callback: 429" you could always send a boost to TWiB podcast by mr cfisher at Jupiter Broadcasting.
Your take was correct. No one controls bitcoin. A small group of people are currently trying to hijack it.
Here’s the thing, your take on bip 444 is absolutely correct. It is a horrendous bip that is so nonsensical it seems almost satire.
However, Core v30 is the weakest release in a long time, showing a clear disregard for the many users who object to having their nodes used as cloud storage without consent. Suggesting “just don’t upgrade” is a poor argument, since essential bug fixes and compatibility with other interfaces depend on staying reasonably up to date.
Either way - love your show, it’s my new favourite Bitcoin podcast. Keep it up!
Thanks for the zap, but I have never received any and the wallet is always empty
You should probably remove the Lightning address from your Nostr profile, so that people aren't sending money into the void.
A list of stable Lightning address providers can be found here: https://lightningaddress.com/#providers
1. Node operators, individually.
2. Node operators, individually.
It's a proposal that will simply result in a network split if and when node operators decide to enact it.
