I think the nature of faith, in the context of religion, is to believe despite a lack, or presence, of evidence. Some people have nothing else to buoy them through their difficulties.
How do you know the universe began to exist?
If God is not part of the universe, in what sense does he exist?
What evidence points to an eternal consciousness?
