X comment (https://x.com/BloodReaver/status/1990902746774712333): “Uber increases traffic, pays shit wages and mostly works for shareholder value maximization, just like Airbnb reducing housing supply, affordability and availability. In those cases they were right!” Me: Except you missed the whole point of the post was that centralized power absolutely hates decentralized disruptors ;) All the downsides you listed (traffic, housing shortages, high rents) aren’t the fault of Uber / Airbnb: they’re the fault of decades of insane licensing cartels, zoning laws, meddling regulation, and artificial supply restrictions created by the states / governments. But that’s a long story involving second- and third-order effects, and society always prefers a quick, emotionally satisfying villain + a “simple” ban or tax or license to “fix” it. You actually made me want to sit down and write a whole letter about this… then I remembered Thomas Sowell already destroyed this take in Economic Facts and Fallacies ( and his other books)... I can’t do better than the GOAT :)) But may be I can do it funnier with memes so it's more digestible...I'll see...
