It's 2 orders of magnitude slower than syncing over clearnet. Lightning over Tor is pretty broken and a great way to get payment failures.

For LN I agree, but last week I synced a node over tor only in ~40 hrs, clearnet is what, maybe 2x faster?
My experience, works fine, never a payment failure on regular use.
