if AI makes the art, by stealing everything online created by humans, what does it mean for the human artist ? what does it mean for humanity ? where are we headed ? Is it good ? bad ? Ancient civilizations left us treasures that are still standing today. What are we leaving for the future ?

I think it will eventually drive up demand for human created art. It's already happening
People are sick of "AI slop."
Pure AI “averages” out art.
Real art pushes the boundaries into new territory in a beautiful way.
This can be enhanced with AI as a bicycle for creativity, but is retarded with AI as the creative engine itself.
You make great points. It’s something i struggle with too, specially as someone using #ai to create this #aiart npub .
I have other artistic skills, but illustration is something i have never developed…
It feels like we’re heading towards a fork of some kind, separating synthetic art and human made art, and i feel this latter one is gonna go more and more towardw valuing manual processes and human intervention/creativity (or at least i think i hope it will)
In the end, ai doesn’t have any agency, so it’s all about what we do with it all…
i know what you mean. it's really fascinating. I recently spoke to someone who feels like he never could be his full self until now with AI because he can manifest his ideas... I agree that it's about what we do with it... it will potentially amplify what we already are to a higher degree. there are also AI models made for various reasons... open source vs proprietary for example
I see what you mean... so the idea becomes achievable in ways one could not before ?
riiight, human hand made things becoming more valuable... as well as the imperfection vs the perfect.
Yeah, i just wish there was a model i could use where i could select the art i wanted the ai to remix from as style reference, so that there would be an actual provenance of the work being used that i’m benefitting from, and if i then profit from it and get zapped, value or whatever the artists would get splits.
Creating a kind of chain of value even though it’s #ai .
Definitely. There’s resources available to creatives now like never before. At all scales
