I live in the grey UK and wear them here on sunny days. I would literally die if I didn't wear them when I'm in the Caribbean ๐Ÿ˜‚ Also, I don't have any sleep issues. It's a comfort thing. It's one thing if you're tromping along dirt, or if the ground is dark... But in the specific place that is described in the video, that's mostly white floor, that light is getting bounced right back into your eyes, hat or no. This whole "if it's not natural it's bad" thing is basically primitivism. There's a reason why cave-men had lifespans of ~28.
