My impression of Ireland this summer - first trip in 25 years - was not good.
People are still overwhelmingly lovely, but all of the ‘things we aren’t allowed to do any longer’ was astonishing.
I’m inheriting some land, and while I’ll retain the house (‘they don’t want new dwellings built outside towns and cities), I plan to sell the pastures (which you are heavily restricted on clearing, burning, etc.) to the farmers who’ve been renting it.
Buying a bread knife was like buying a long gun in most US states.
As bad as the UK is, they only need to replace their own government. Ireland still has Brussels, to boot.
