Neither did England, the USA, Italy or many other countries. Russia came to exist, in it's earliest form, in the 8th century, England in the 9th, the USA in...what, the 18th? And Italy, not till the 19th century.
England didn't exist in the way that it does now and it's original capital was Winchester in the Kingdom of Wessex. Is that period not the foundation of England, because things evolved?
As political unit, Ukraine started in 9th century as Kingdom of Rus. Moskovia as a political unit started in 1157 as the Principality of Vladimir-Suzdal. Saying that Russia started in Kyiv is like saying that Argentina started as the Kingdom of Castile in the 9th century or that the USA started as the Kingdom of Wessex in 6th century. There is a connection, but a VERY remote one.
