You can use passphrases or custom derivation paths and many other tricks I guess. But it's not suited for even the average bitcoiners and doesn't remove the fact that you still increase the risk of leaking enough info for an attacker to steal your funds if your setup is not good enough. Custom setup are way less secured than standard ones for many reasons.
