yes but there are not many qualified people so it is taking a bit longer than expected

It would be interesting if Bitcoin businesses got together (I would consider my firm to be in that bucket) and all agree to fund some kind of part time/fulltime intern to work on bitcoin, for pay, as a kind of decentralized Bitcoin development apparatus. If all bitcoin companies shaved a little of their bottom line in this way, the results could be interesting.
Or, in the alternative, formed a multi-corporate non-profit organization like a Trade Association pooling resources to hire a few people just to work on bitcoin development. The more diverse the corporate interests, the less suspicious or captured it would appear.
