I think the issue is that BIP110 champions changed the narrayive quite a bit. The first BIP proposal was focused on legality. Then it was to stop spam. Right now it seems to be to fire Core and replace with Luke or something.

None of it stuck, there may be real problems but knots and 110 solve none of them. I don't even really know what guy was rambling on about but it seems like he's saying it's about sending a message or virtue signaling, or on some high and mighty crusade something. 🤷 . Sounds like something one would say after all their talking points turned stale.
Throw it all at the wall and see what sticks. Nothing sticks? Make some vague claims to a moral high ground. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.
