Isn't bump a forum thing because a new reply will 'bump' a thread back to the top of the list of posts in the forum? Which is why people would get upset if you would bump what had been a dead thread, the necrobump.

Yes 😂 Very much like boosting or replying to an old thread here will make it show up again in people's feeds, where their feed is otherwise chronological.
