Optimizing #Lightning fees isn’t guesswork.
I use nostr:npub19tcpurtt6xulhw0r6sc404j9jraj0h8me2lzs7z2tqewz7l0hpas59nlea → check the standard deviation → set fees slightly above/below.
Keeps channels balanced & sats flowing. ⚡

Why specifically standard deviation? There are so many different fee levels at Amboss 😂
Trust me, I’m well aware. 🤣
I choose the standard deviation for simplicity sake and it provides a good balance of all the different aspects of setting fees.
I could dive into this more in future videos if you’re interested.
Yes please! Channel fees and balancing them is such a black art. Don't really see many good quality guides about it! Good content!
By the way... How do you find your on-chain fees compared to your profits from routing? On chain fees (force close) are absolutely destroying me
I stopped balancing channels several years ago. I moved to Lightning Terminal and it works great for me.
Personally I prefer weighted average.
Looking at the fee distribution graph on amboss, standard deviation always feels so high.
There is a lot liquidity below your level that will be eaten before you.. But you will be paying high rebalance fees using lndg.
Not sure what's best.
I could definitely create something, I will make a note!
Speaking on finding on-chain fees compared to your profits. LNDg is great for that, I mentioned it in this video more in depth at the 10:00 mark.

+1 for that. Lightning terminal is wonderful.
It's ok to time the market when opening and closing channels orderly.. Or batch it..
But force closures are brutal
I currently only have one channel open BUT when I get around to opening more. I will take a deeper look. I usually study what you’re looking at. It’s just so much work tbh.
I’ve only ever forced closed once on my previous lightning node.
I’ve since moved to a new one.
For a brief moment in time I was able to have everything flow naturally in and out. What’s your node ID? Maybe we can chat about a channel. 😁
