**Pistorius meets Guterres as Berlin vote nears**
After the Hegseth pact reported yesterday, Pistorius met UN chief Guterres in New York to discuss peacekeeping and Germany's UNIFIL role in Lebanon, before heading to Fort Worth for the German Air Force's first F-35A handover. A weekend INSA poll found 78% of Germans, including many CDU voters, no longer see Merz as fit to be chancellor, days before the September 20 Berlin state election.
