It’s not that easy to maintain at his age. The greatest NBA players in history were terrible by this age if they even played this long. Most were retired before 40.
I wasn't having a go! I was just pointing out that we were debating the issue the other day, the different reasons why people work out, which we were🤷🏻‍♂️.
It’s not a debate. If I say I train for a reason and you train for another. You make it sound like there’s a better reason for doing it (ie a debate). When you train for aesthetics, part of it (or most of it even) helps for longevity. Vice versa the other way around. The goal that you set in your mind is not inherently better than someone else’s. Not everything is a debate
Sorry, I've used the wrong word, I apologise. I should have said discussing the issue. I didn't mean it as in debating as to whose right, I just meant we were discussing it. Sorry for any confusion🙏🏻.
I think everyone should have a baseline level of strength in order to protect your family. But for me that’s not enough I wanna be able to say that I’ve gotten close to my body’s full genetic potential 💪
I started training like 10 years ago but I didn’t get significant results. That failure was like a stain in my mind that never went away. I don’t like the idea of giving up on something. So even though it would make me looked better, I want to also have the pride to say that I accomplished it even if it took me a long time. And I can share that lesson of never giving up with my future children. It’s a discipline thing for me with many other benefits.
Having discipline and showing that discipline to my children is definitely a big part of it. They notice everything. For me, I see training as a way to be able to keep up with the children and being able to move and stay active as long as possible. Even though the aesthetics part is a nice bonus, it’s not the main goal for me. What’s interesting is that gaining lean mass is important for aesthetics as well as for longevity.

For me it is just fun to do. If I can make something more physical, more difficult I will. Effort is exhilarating.
If you was training for size/aesthetics/genetic potential and you wasn't meeting your goals, providing you was putting in the work, and I've no reason to believe you wasn't. Almost certainly the reason why you didn't get there was because you wasn't eating enough. I can't stress that enough. You have to eat an absolutely insane amount of food to gain a significant amount of mass. My walking around weight is roughly 67kg, years ago, when I was really into it, I got up to 82kg, that took me about 3 years. The reason I stopped going the gym wasn't because I wasn't enjoying it, it was the staggering amount of food involved, it seemed like I was eating all day, every day. I've recently started going again, about 8 weeks ago and I'm enjoying it but I'm already fed up with the amount of food I'm having to eat😂.
This also. I agree with that as well. I guess the reason we do it for might be different. But it’s relatively all the same in the end. Or very similar at least
If your main goal is acquiring mass, why not use protein powder? I prefer to stay away from it but if you want mass, it’s super cost efficient
It doesn't have the calories, someone of my size needs between 80-120g of protein to build muscle. I can get that with 2 pints of full fat milk and a 500g pot of Greek yoghurt, that along isn't enough to build size, your body needs lots of fats and carbs too, just to function day to day. That's even true of me, who spends the vast majority of the time lying on my couch😂.
It’s roughly 140 calories for 35g of protein. People I know usually take 2 portions, on top of your calorie intake through food
Yeah they’re all great benefits. Doing deadlifts and wrist curled were literally the only things that actually provided significant pain relief for my lower back and the tendinitis in my hands. Physical therapy, icing, splints, stretching didn’t work for me.
These views are outdated. I ate a fuck ton and just got fat. I used to take mass gainers and everything. I saw significant results when I trained more intensely and reduced the frequency.
The practice of discipline is actually good for dopamine regulation. We’re all pretty cracked out compared to previous generations. So doing hard things makes us experience pleasure for normal things again.
There isn’t really anything unique in protein powder that you can’t get from a good steak. It’s whey protein so derived from milk. The biggest benefit is just convenience.
I don’t use it anymore. But he says he’s struggling to eat as much as he needs. That’s why I suggested weigh isolate
It sounds so obvious in hindsight doesn’t it? Like oh my back hurts because it’s weak. Not because of sciatica or because my hamstrings are tight and need to be stretched to relieve tension or because the mattress isn’t firm enough. 😂
You’re just a hater plain and simple. LeBron dominates Jordan in all statistical categories. The league has more skilled players than any era before. He has more game winners, buzzer beaters, points scored in the clutch. He is more skilled in all aspects of the game. Better at 3s, passing, blocks you name it. People ignore so many things about the 90s because of nostalgia. They can’t get past their biases. The 3 point line was shorter for the Jordan era and he was still statistically worse at 3s than LeBron lmfao. Also it’s easier to play defense during the Jordan era because you can use your arm to hold players. Can’t do that anymore. So the defensive stats that LeBron has which are better than Jordan is proof that he was even better as a defender. But old heads are stubborn and hate that this era gets to experience better basketball.
You know how many times I watched that video. Because I love watching the reaction of little kids that say Jordan sucked, but they wear his sneakers, and they say, Lebron is the best. You know how many times I've watched reaction videos of kids having there hearts broken by stats and truth hahahaha 😆 😂 😅
You have to look at the lowest common denominator. This time period was going through an expansion era. They added several new teams that were really bad in order to grow the league. The good teams beat up on the new teams that had no chance. The statistics show this too. Stats were inflated because of these new teams. Larry Bird and other legends have criticized this decision and commented on how it creates an inaccurate view of player talents. Also, our natural biases prevent us from seeing a clear big view picture. There are legends from the era before Jordan who said that they would destroy the bulls and that the league was easier. You can’t make this shit up. Friend sent me this hilarious interview a while back when I also used to be a LeBron hater 😂
People are more likely to overtrain or undertrain than to under eat. Muscles grow outside of the gym especially when you’re sleeping. So if you don’t allow them sufficient rest time to grow, then you start to get weaker. Also remember that your muscles can still grow even in a slight calorie deficit. Not ideal but it’s possible. So it wouldn’t make sense for overeating to be the key. The reason it’s a common belief is because people are looking at bodybuilders on steroids and how they train. That doesn’t apply to natural lifters.
Saying LeBron sucks is just retarded and makes you lose credibility. No serious person actually thinks LeBron sucks bro 😂 I don’t even think Jordan is better than Kobe. If you placed Jordan in the NBA today, he’d be like Paul George or some shit lmao good but not top tier. Everyone just likes to shit on the current era and glorify the good old days. That’s why no one takes old heads seriously lol LeBron fans will do the same it’s a cycle.
This is called a projection. You said LeBron sucks. I didn’t say Jordan sucks. LeBron has better stats. You just ignore the ones that don’t support your views. The bulls couldn’t win without pippen. When the bulls lost to Jordan, pippen led the team to the eastern conference championship. That’s not a good indication that Jordan was the most essential part of the team. Pipper got farther alone than Jordan did alone. Also his coach talked about pippen with more praise and esteem. It’s not even clear that Jordan was the best player on the bulls 🤣🤣
Everybody is different I guess. I just know that I need to eat a shit load of food in order to put on weight. I'm an ectomorph.
Yeah this is something that people don’t think about. If your body needs to repair muscles, it will convert fat cells to muscle cells. No need to overeat.
Not the best ever but Shaq? That guy had terrible longevity. He was fat and ass for a significant portion of his career. Couldn’t hit a free throw for his life either. What was the last season you followed closely?
You didn’t answer my question I think the most dominant player is the one who dominates for the longest period of time. Some players have dominated for a few years. Think of Derrick Rose. He was dominant for like 3 years then had an injury and was never the same. Shaq dominated on the lakers but nowhere else really. Kobe dominated for much longer than Shaq. Duncan too. And LeBron has been the most dominant. No one has played at a high level for as long as LeBron. Most people just don’t like LeBron because they have preferences for other play styles or personalities.
I still watch highlights. I largely grew out of sports cause it’s not that serious. I have seen a lot of LeBron, it’s absolutely absurd how he’s built and how great he continues to be. But Derek Rose even in a few years proved to be great one. Steph’s longevity at the top is a marvel too. Longevity is a major notch but not as great as how good a a few years is. I can’t give it a number, it’s not a science, everyone has their own formula for great(est/ness). Shaq was dominant most of his career. You forget his time in Orlando. I didn’t like LeBron running to different teams, then creating drama that one time. Not the type of attitude I wanted to see in the GOAT.
I don’t care about changing teams that much. These businesses are trying to make the most money possible out of the players so players should make the most they can while they’re young. The only thing I really hated was his broadcast of the decision. But he’s even admitted later that he regrets doing that. And I think his personality is funny. He gets caught doing dumb stuff like doing troll face photobombs with his teammates 😂
