The most difficult part of designing any sort of democratic system is to uphold the illusion of participation and agency while ensuring that power lies firmly in the hands of those who wish to acquire resources without giving anything in return and who have no intention of changing said system in a way that doesn't benefit them. Fortunately, that particular problem has already been solved several generations ago, with resounding success.
