Banks have been controlling governments for centuries.
Many humans do not put profit above everything else. I don’t believe that’s true.
I am not a communist, I believe in free markets, but you cannot have a free market if there’s a communist institution like a central bank controlling money. And using the state to force its use

Yes, I did not say that you're a communist nor that you willingly used that trick, just that you did say something inherently wrong 😉
Let's define the terms: "profit" means getting something back in exchange for your work, that you value more than not doing that work in the first place.
So it can be money, or even just the warm fuzzy feeling of having helped someone for free.
It's still profit, the individual decides on its merit.
Regarding the banks, they could do nothing, as in literally nothing, if the state did not exist, which is like saying, if the people were free at heart and decided not to obey arbitrary laws made by corrupt politicians and enforced by a puny army, which is puny when you consider that every single guy wearing a costume and waving a gun would have to face 200 normal people, if it came to open confrontation.
And that's why if people simply stopped obeying, governments would disappear tomorrow, and central banks with them.
