I have neither, but I did have a passionate friend introduce me to bitcoin during a bike ride which really stuck with me. Always been financially interested, I took “self custody” of an actively managed mutual fund account I was lucky to have access to, and started on my self managed journey of value investing. While reading Q10 reports the excitement of stock picking and being my own broker had worn off, I found JL Collins Simple Path To Wealth and had a FI mindset, which didn’t last more than a couple years as being invested in VOO/VTI and attempting to live below my means in a very expensive area hadn’t moved the needle much. My first home purchase had become my forever home as I felt as though I’d never be in a situation to create enough wealth to make another purchase. Only way I’m able to afford this one is to rent out the basement. Being curious I put some skin in the Bitcoin game 3 years ago, observed the bear market while finally falling down the rabbit hole. After capitulating for another couple of months with the halving looming in the near future committed to a DCA and also made some lump some purchases. I reckon this path is incredibly common, I finally had a NEED to know. For many the fiat system has worked well for them up to this point, but it sounds like many are waking up to the biggest lie we’ve all been sold on. Hope and optimism have returned, low time preference focus locked in, and learning how to move about this fiat world while adopting a Bitcoin standard. It’s my belief that the curious and those in need to know are here, friends that work in the financial industry have to completely relearn and reframe their minds, and might be the last to adopt…and that’s all I gotta say about that(Forrest Gump voice) 🙃
