The people closest to you will often be the most resistant to you making a change or pursuing a new goal in your life. Stop announcing your plans to them and looking for their approval. Go for it and surround yourself with people who are walking the same walk, pursuing the same goals, as you now want.

great advice
It’s a mistake I’ve made many times. People that know you don’t like it when you change.
For the purpose of being able to navigate the world we simplify. One of the main ways being we operate as if what is you is a static thing. This provides certainty to the participant
This is not great advice. This presumes the "people closest to you" are primarily self-seeking jerks who wish for things not to change. This does not describe the majority of people's experiences thru life. Second, maybe those closest to you are more concerned for your well-being and are trying to help you avoid terrible mistakes and errors in judgement.
This advice may sound like it "rings true!", but it also pits one against friends and family to "pursue your dreams!" Really? Your dreams include alienating everyone closest to you so you can "do yer thang!"???
Seek wise counsel, then seek more, and be quite cautious about how your actions may affect those closest to you. Then you can pursue good things in life that are built around NOT harming others.
Couldn't you have told me that some16 - 17 years ago?
I would have invented some form of unstoppable money, may be.
