No one wants to buy government debt so the market is saying they need to be paid more to take on that risk
This is from a post I made yesterday. Markets are demanding more return from longer durations at levels not seen in a decade. “You want to borrow for longer, it’s gonna cost you more…”
This means the price of previously issued bonds drop because newer bonds have higher rates.
