Been thinking about this lately. The older I get and more life I experience the more clear this thought becomes.
**Most of what we love about living in America is thanks to the cultural consequences of the Christian faith.**
Not *Democracy*, not the *Constitution*, not *Capitalism*. The crumbling that we see around us at its root is caused by a massive turn away from God, our faith, and our traditions. Families are the next layer and the destruction of the family is predicated by the obsession with self. The idolization of our own wisdom, knowledge, and desires over the humble realization that God's riches are far greater than any carnal pleasure we might desire. As C.S. Lewis wrote
> "It would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased."
β C.S. Lewis, The Weight of Glory, and Other Addresses
I think more and more people are seeing these things, counting the cost, and returning to faith and tradition. As followers of Jesus it is not a time to be discouraged but rather look up to our hope and be beacons of truth and love.

Shameful. There are many false teachers and snakes that claim to be shepherds. They actually worship the political power of the state. They simply want to ring of power for themselves. They worship power and wealth. Not Jesus. In short, this is not historic Christianity but a modern perversion of it.
I should add, that this is the poison of politics and the desire to control that Satan tempted Christ with at the heart. There are many good people that have no clue how foreign what this man is teaching is from traditional Christianity. There is a spirit at work but those people he is talking about are not demons. Nor is he or his followers. But the spiritual realm is at work stoking hatred and division. Democrats are not my enemy. Nor are Republicans. They are both wrong an a follower of Jesus really can't co-sign 100% of either movement. The level of ignorance in the US about the history of the church and political movements is appalling.
The answer isn't in politics. Its in Jesus. But, most people I encounter online are so distracted by the next thing they aren't even having internal dialogs about these things. They are NPCs. And I can see how people on both sides of the political divide could think of them as demons. But God loves them and they are created in His image.
