5yo yelled they scratch, so there's no fight over them in the end. 6yo now has them and is super happy with them. And he kind of skates around kitchen on them now. At least he's not stomping like a mammoth anymore, poor neighbors below us๐ฅด

I've made so many hats for Jr that "are itchy" and bever got worn, I took him to the store and had him rub all the yarns on his forehead, he settled of a soft acrylic for the latest one.
This kid is sweaty and always hot type, I suppose he has a bit more moist skin. Second one has no issues. I left out acryl since that's very warm and he might hate that. So maybe merino or cotton? Or bamboo.. ๐ค But I have generally issues with ecological impact of viscose, especially bamboo is awful.
Wool is the best option, superwash is generally not scratchy but my kid didn't like it. I went with what he's going to like and wear ๐คทโโ๏ธ. Wool will breathe better than cotton, silk is a good choice but...it's silk ๐
I suppose silk for knitting is similar fun as for sewing? ๐ฅฒ
It's very slippery. But ohhhhh the drape ๐คค๐ค
