We can still vote this shit away, no? One of my best friends started spamming me petition after petition, against banning cash, against this, against that. I’m torn: she’s legit smart, but my gut says these things are just a scam.

Effectiveness is near zero. Studies like from Harvard’s Shorenstein Center show 99.9 percent of Change.org-type petitions never hit their goal, and even the wins are usually pre-planned PR stunts by the target org.
And what I really don't like, all the data they want from you! The data grab means every click feeds the machine, no?? Your name, email, postcode, phone if you’re dumb enough to give it, plus behavioral tracking gets sold to political consultants, advertisers, or whoever. GDPR is a joke anyway.
The second you hit submit, you just became the product.
