Little known fact about We update and deploy improvements and bugfixes almost daily, but 99% of the work is done in the core and is invisible to user. If you want to keep track of changes, you can always look at the changelog in the repository Many hours are spent to ensure scalability, reliability, performance and sustainability, so you can have your images, gifs and videos always delivered as fast as possible and reliably. πŸΆπŸΎπŸ«‘πŸ«‚ Meme on!

To build up better media hosting for videos as well. Place to make memes, place to host and categorize media of different kind, easy sharing of other types of files, place for creators to sell their content (maybe), and anything else that might come up 🐢🐾🫑
Go ahead and implement it, I would be very much interested 🐢🐾🫑
no because any of them can carry any of the notes and nothing breaks, where as if any url used in a note changes then it does break things
Oh, duh, sorry. Yes, for now paid accounts cover costs, clearly not development costs and time, but at least we don’t have to pay out of our own pockets 🐢🐾🫑
That is true, and don’t think that we are not thinking and working on that already. But before we can run, we need to learn how to walk. It is not easy and nobody pays me or nostr.build to do it. It’s all done during our free times. Costs are offset by paid accounts so far, so at least it’s sustainable in that way. Join Nostrasia to hear more and ask questions 🐢🐾🫑
its great you are doing what you do but long term it is a problem i have seen torrent and ipfs used in nostr, holepunch looks promising, and I dont think we need to reinvent this
IPFS and Torrent both suffer from low performance and high latency for these purposes, so not the best match. There is also a problem of legal liability for users to P2P content. I wish I could say that people are good and never upload illegal things, but that’s not the case. Bandwidth is also not cheap, and traffic is not small either. Many challenges at scale, not something that is solvable by existing decentralized solutions or protocols. 🐢🐾🫑
View quoted note β†’ proxies is a good solution, and if we use ipfs or torrent we also have the option for p2p which will be good for bigger files many people have unlimited traffic and idle hardware which is why p2p has so much potential legal problems will always exist, centralized platforms have bigger problems with legal than p2p as to latency with p2p holepunch.to seems very good, have you used keet.io ?
Not sure you have experience in this field, so I guess I’ll rest my case for now. Always open to new implementations. Don’t ask for permission, just do it and show what can be done. 🐢🐾🫑
If fishcake took all the profits ever earned on nostr.build, and our entire OpenSats grant, it still wouldn’t cover half of the dev work he has done…
Great Work Where do you usually display news about your technology updates? I seem to be unable to upload videos successfully using Damus. It prompts "Unable to parse", but the video can be successfully uploaded by directly accessing nostr.build, but the compression quality will be worse. is there a size limit
If it is a feature, Fishcake or myself will just post a note. All other updates are in the GitHub logs, we are very thorough, but you have to check it.. Regarding your video, weird. We don’t change it at all, so you might try smaller sizes or different format. Upload limit for free video is 25MB, if you have an account, there is not limit in filesize. We are working on optimized video for account holders, coming soon!!
I managed to find your error in the logs (huge thanks for remembering and reporting it) and know what the issues was. Needless to say it should be fixed now with a better retry logic. I love good bug reports with specific error text, makes it so much easier to figure things out! Thank you! πŸΆπŸΎπŸ«‚πŸ’œπŸ€£
Absolute legends! You guys are the soul of Nostr and thank you for all that you do! To do this in your own time, taking you away from your loved ones is such amazing generosity. Appreciate you, thank you and love you πŸ’œπŸ«‚πŸ™
Thank you for your legendary support. I wouldn’t have survived in this ecosystem if it wasn’t for your support and advices. Really appreciate all you do for me! πŸΆπŸΎπŸ«‚πŸ’œπŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»
I guess that’s exactly what sister and brother would do for each other, regardless of mother! (I think it rhymes too) πŸΆπŸΎπŸ«‚πŸ«‚πŸ«‚πŸ€£πŸ’œ
Thank you so much! πŸΆπŸΎπŸ«‚πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»
This is a common problem with video encoding.. Some formats aren’t supported on mobile, some apps, etc.. Can you try encoding the video differently? Don’t use apple pro res. Try .mov instead of .mp4, etc.
