Car people - sometimes (approx 2x a month) I'll start up my 2016 Volvo xc60 and it'll go for like 100 feet and then completely stop accelerating/or stall off completely. I shut it off and start it again and it's fine. Had the battery checked, fine. Local mechanic couldn't find anything on the code reader.:. I feel like it happens when I leave doors open for a few mins loading the car or something. Before I take it to dealer and become poor.. any ideas or thoughts #asknostr #mechanic

Long shot… We have a weird acceleration/stall issue from time to time with our Mitsubishi Airtrek. The fix seems to be cleaning what is called the mass air sensor (I think that’s its name). It controls the air/fuel mix. There is a cleaning spray you can buy and apply. Have to do it every couple of years.

Yes when the car sits for a while these sensors either go bad or are dirty. You can take the mass air flow sensor off and clean it and try that. The car, as it's warming up, it's asking for more power. And something is cutting off the power. So it has to be one of those sensors or gas filter thats dirty from sitting

Most likely a lack of air flow is cutting the engine power. So MAF sensor on the intake or the throttle body itself is clogged or not staying open. You can try to clean them out or replace them.

Inspect intake system for vacuum leaks after maf sensor. Maybe problem is there and after engine warms up the problem dissapears. Precise diagnostics sometimes may save tons of time and money in context of engine and electronics. It is a good a idea to bring car to dealer and ask only for diagnostics. They will tell what the problem is and what are estimated costs for fix. Then you can decide if to do repair by yourself or leave it to dealer.
