I LOVE mushroom season. Even though i can find the little buggers meanwhile in other seasons as well. Nothing says mushroom like 3-7 days after a good day or 2 of rain in September or October.

Yes. It's such a nice little bonus at this time of year, especially with the kids. It's like finding treasure while we're out for a walk.

My kids are very aware of my fascination of shrooms and while walking together they will always point it out for me. I am by no means an expert in what they are all called even though i had a few wild picking workshops and read some books about the edible ones. Some i can pretty clearly identify by now but i still rely on the "obisdentify" app a lot. Snap a few pics, throw it in the app and in most cases it comes up with accurate results. I have identified some 150+ unique species by now and i still keep finding new ones, though maybe only at around 5-10 each year.

That's great. I struggle to use apps here, as cellphone coverage is very poor. But that's not always a bad thing.

Ive never tried porcini, so compared to puffballs they were nice!
