Any recommendations for a non kindle e-ink ebook/epub reader?
I lost my kindle in an airport a few years ago, but still have a large library of ebooks. Reading on a laptop or phone just doesn’t do it for me.
I liked the e-ink screen since I could read in bed and the battery life was better.
I thought read new Kindles now support epub now? I’d like to stay away from Amazon ideally, but if the new ones are good I wouldn’t be opposed.

I'd love one with better annotations and PDF reader as well
Your profile picture is awesome! Did you make it with AI?
Yeah, Dall-E
Want one?
I definitely would. What would I need to do?
I just use a normal, all-purpose tablet with the open source ReadEra app. For me, the blue light filter was sufficient and battery length is still quite good. I also use Calibre on my laptop to manage my ebooks.
I think with Bing chat you can generate images, but you can't iterate on them. I have ChatGPTs paid version, just ask and I'll try to generate something for you.
I have an old iPad might fit the bill for this. I’ll give it a try, thanks!
I found this @TaskTiger, which for 110 sats I could do a DALLE 3 prompt without signing up for anything. Pretty cool!
I made a new profile banner with it.
I use the eReader Prestigio app on Android and the Google Play Books app to read epubs and PDFs. (I'm not familiar with e-ink, though; that's a Kindle thing, right?)
Good to know!
E-Ink is the display type of the device.
Have you looked at any of the Kobo readers? A friend of mine swears by them for large format e-ink readers that are not Kindles.
There are options but they are not at commodity cheap as the Amazon units.
So true, after looking the kindle might be the way to go cost wise.
It's really hard to beat Amazon's comoditization prices.
