To me Capitalism = free markets and private property Socialism = centrally planned economy and common property Todays western systems would in this regard best be described as "corporatism" where state and corporations are intertwined in governing

Yes, that's exactly it, the pseudo "Democracy" model has become a true cooperative system. The government produces nothing, and the large producers, while remaining closer to a monopoly without actually being one, use the government, invest in both sides, and have support from both sides. In this case, the liberal economy always takes a back seat.

Yes, to me common property is the marketing term for state property in socialist ideology. Do you know a catchy term to describe the market situation in western democracies today?
