I don’t agree, because if you look at the way most clients show zap counts, they simply put the total amount of sats to the right of the ⚡️ symbol. Why is this so hard to understand?

Yeah I don’t find it hard to understand in the same way I don’t find “tipping” fiat hard to understand. Perhaps just a UI change to show “7 sats” but to keep the term zapping to denote the action. “Tipping” was considered before zapping stuck, but it was regarded as too “fiat”.
But zooming out, the lightning bolt is nowhere near on the brink of becoming the case-closed Sats symbol for everyone to use. If anything it's an outlier candidate.
