To be fair, we Europeans know our history pretty well. If you think about, it has been only +-80 years a state tried to make a new world order. They could've waited at least a few more decades, some war descendants are still alive and many books have been written about that topic. The delusion they hold and will succeed establishing this, is astonishing. Once they push that state parental digital id and wallet. We'll have many just like... uh no.. What grips us in anxious manner is the careful planning and the steps we see them take. Personally what I hope to see is the next fear created event and the people their reaction. Just imagine that the people hear once a again "everybody again in lockdown for x time for reason y" will trigger the public hard enough.
You are right. It's really running clearly for a totalitarian regime who listens to no one and doesn't care anymore what the people think of their actions. Also, I think Europeans have an arrogance that they (think) live in a very free society and dictatorships are things of other less developed countries. They don't even recognise dictatorship at their own doorstep.
