On Sunday, in a neighborhood of Voiron in Isère, a 74-year-old man was kidnapped at 6 a.m. by several individuals with the aim of extorting money from his son, who lives abroad. The kidnappers sought to pressure the son with a ransom in cryptocurrency. Alerted on Sunday morning, the police mobilized significant resources to locate the victim. Thanks to an operation by the BRI, the septuagenarian was found and freed during the night between Sunday and Monday in Loriol in the Drôme department. Three people linked to the case were arrested. The victim was hospitalized after suffering violence.
